I stood quietly for a long time watching this beautiful heron. He was knee-deep in the wetlands, patiently fishing for his breakfast. Like a statue, he stood perfectly still, not moving a muscle. How do heron do that?
What a great model of patience…an elusive quality in our human world it seems. With instant this and drive through that, I wonder how much we miss as we rush through our days?
I watched the heron’s patience rewarded with a fish, and I slowly continued my wandering.
Lao Tzu, a mystic philosopher of ancient China once said, ‘Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished.’
