There he sat, a kestrel with a scowl on his face. As I watched him, I had a wondering. Do animals hold grudges? Probably not, as they appear to flow with whatever happens and quickly move on. No need for apologies or forgiveness.
I suspect that forgiveness is a human concept. Seemingly simple but, for myself, not necessarily easy.
Wise beings have suggested that forgiveness is a tool to free yourself from the past…a past that’s controlling your life in the present moment. An opportunity to walk in another’s shoes and feel compassion for ourselves and others in our humanness.
It doesn’t mean you minimize or condone a behavior. It simply means you loosen the grip it has on you.
Forgiveness is a gift you give yourself that allows you to release resentment and pain.
And with forgiveness comes freedom…freedom to live and love more fully.
A worthy undertaking…inspired by a beautiful bird.
