As I walked through an oak grove yesterday, I was struck by the beautiful autumn leaves. Vivid reds, oranges, and yellows were emerging among the summer green.
And I had an important noticing. Leaves change color gradually, not all at once.
It sparked a realization. I realized that when I intend to make a change, I expect immediate transformation. And disappointment ensues when my timeline goes unmet.
Perhaps true and lasting change is designed to happen gradually, in a rhythm of ease and grace, like the transformation of the leaves.
So maybe I can relax and stop lamenting that things aren’t happening fast enough.
And trust that each day is unfolding in life’s perfect timing…
