This morning I watched this beautiful osprey for a while, hoping he might spread his wings and take flight. Despite all my wishing and hoping, he didn’t.
After a while, I sighed and began to turn around. To my surprise, a lovely young doe stood 10 feet behind me, watching me. We eyed each other, and she appeared quite intrigued. After a few moments, she bounded off into the field.
As I pondered my experience, I had a wondering. Have I been missing some of life’s surprises? Maybe I’ve been spending too much time and energy wishing and hoping, trying to make things happen. I realize that my most wonderful experiences have been the ones I didn’t create, but were created for me.
I think it’s time to let the universe surprise me…
